Found this old cute Toshiba portable, and having good experience running Debian on my old Pentium II decided to give this one a try. The Toshiba has an AMD K6 running at 450 MHz, same as the Pentium II machine. It seems to run Windows 98 SE ok. However, when I tried running Damn Small Linux, the machine appearantly runs slower and slower and then freezes up. My guess is that there is some thermal management stuff that should be happening but isn't here, as the fan never starts when running Linux.

Any advice on what to do?

DSL seems to recognize that it's a laptop, since it puts up a battery meter, but that's about all. Googled round the net for some info, but didn't find anything (apart from one or two short reports on people running Linux on this machine with success).
