Hello all,

I am looking to get some sort of access to a disk that is reporting as BSY. This problem is affecting seagate 7200.11 drives:
1TB Barracudas failing in droves, users claim - The Tech Report
(So backup often if you have any)

The bios doesn't see the disk, but SLAX does, it times out trying to mount the disk at boot time(it is invisible afterwards). I am hoping to accomplish one or both of the following:

1) Ignore the bsy bit and force mounting of the disk
2) Send and recieve data to the SATA channel

I am a beginner programmer and linux user, so please reply with slow monosyllabic words..

Is this feasable? If so, can you point me in the right direction (files, resources, guides, etc.)
