what modifications i have to do in the kernel and can I install a driver for USB because 2.4 by default does'nt support all usb devices .

I am not sure if I understood the question but if you want to adapt a 2.6 driver to run with a 2.4 kernel, then my guess is that this is quite difficult as some functions with 2 parameters in the 2.4 kernel have 3 parameters in kernel 2.6 e.g.
So, it's not trivial I would venture out to say.Bus Error: Passengers dumped. Hech gap yo'q.
