Media button not working
I think this goes in this subforum, but I'm not sure.
I am using Mandriva 2010 KDE 4.3
I have a Toshiba Satellite with 7 "special" buttons: power, home page, media, play/pause, stop, back, next.
This is the best pic I could find of them (on top of the keyboard there).
I was able to set it so that all of those keys preform their correct functions, except the media key.
For some reason whenever I try to set it as a shortcut the key input simply isn't registered. I know that this key used to work under Windows, I guess there is something wrong with the mapping.
What can I do to find out where the problem is and fix it?

Here is some good info on setting up extra keys.
Extra Keyboard Keys - ArchWiki
Despite being the Arch Linux Wiki, it's pretty much distro agnostic.
One note, it still recommend keytouch. The last time I tried keytouch, it did not work. It has been awhile, though, so I don't know what the state of it is currently.

Thanks.
The CLI commands in that wiki were useful.
Now I know that I am screwed and have to hope that with the next kernel update it'll support that key (which I doubt, it's a 3 year old laptop).
