No sound with PCI or USB
I'm trying to set up a new Debian box but I can't get any sound. I initially had the onboard sound chip, the Intel AC97 which has the modules loaded, was detected and setup fine in alsaconf although it doesn't seem to be needed now, and was showing in "aplay -l".
I figured it must be the motherboard so I bought a small USB adapter with out and in jacks, but I am getting the same problem. I disabled the onboard sound in the BIOS and set the usb sound up, modules loaded, "aplay -l" shows USBSOUND fine and I can actually hear a small buzz when the volume is right up disappear when I mute. But still no sounds coming from gnome sound preferences test or a video file through Xine.
