linux-compatible configuration?
Hi guys, I'm new to these great forums, and I'm also pretty a beginner with Linux.
I need to mount a new pc, I'd like to run linux on it.
I really don't know where to look if this hardware is compatible can you give me a hand?
I've got two options
option a
Intel CORE i7 860/ 2.80GHz/ 8MB CACHE/ LGA1156
Gigabyte GA-H57M-USB3 (H57,S1156,mATX,DDR3,Intel)
CORSAIR DDR3 1333Mhz XMS3 TW3X4G1333C9A 2x2Gb
2 x SEAGATE Barracuda 7200.12 500Gb SATA2 ST3500418AS in RAID0
XFX GT-240X-ZNFA Nvidia GT 240 CUDA PCI-E 1024Mb GDDR-3
option b
INTEL CORE i7 LGA1366 920 2.66GHz
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R (X58,S1366,ATX,DDR3,Intel)
Corsair XMS3 6GB (2GB x 3) DDR3 1600 TR3X6G1600C8
2 x SEAGATE Barracuda 7200.12 500Gb SATA2 ST3500418AS in RAID0
XFX GT-240X-ZNFA Nvidia GT 240 CUDA PCI-E 1024Mb GDDR-3
I planned to use Ubuntu because I know it has the largest number of supported hardware? any suggestion? any danger to find an unsupported device?
Any contribution will be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Marco

Phoronix posted a review of an ECS Nvidia GT 240 in January and found some issues. Whether they would affect you is uncertain.
