Hi, once my hard disk is completely filled up and only small amount of memory is left. at this point i am not able to fetch the file using a script. why is this? why do we need certain amount of free space in hard disk for its operation.

How much disk space is free? Which Linux distro/version are you using?
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

hi i am talking in general. operating system is loaded into "c" drive and i also have saved my other stuff in the same drive. The remaining free space is almost nil.
