Ubuntu Linux causes DVD-R to stop working
Hey, I did a dual-boot install with WinXP and Ubuntu... Ubuntu automatically loaded GRUB for me, and set it up to list both Windows and Linux... I have Windows on hda, another harddrive on hdb, my dvd-r is hdc, and linux is installed on hdd. Everything boots fine and works ok, EXCEPT for my dvd-r (which is a Lite On 411S). The problem is, it doesn't work in Windows now either! It works before GRUB loads though, leading me to believe that the problem is with GRUB and not Ubuntu. Note: When I say it stops working, I mean it goes dead, no signs of power, and pressing the eject button elicits no response. Windows and Ubuntu both say that there is simply an error with the drive, though both still recognize it. Any help/ideas?
