How do Atom based systems compare?

Does anyone have any experience with the Atom processor line? How do they compare single core to single core, dual core to dual core with other Intel and Amd chips? Do they work well with linux, or are there hardware issues?

Yeah. I have a Acer Aspire ZG5 that runs Linux very well ,Thank you. My Dual Core Gear are Desktops so a comparison is kinda unfair.

My Asus EEEPC 900 with 4gig/16gig SSD Drives runs just as fast as the Acer with the Atom with Sata platter though. The Asus is celeron instead of Atom.

Distro choice also figures into the speed of the system as well as how you installed it also.
