Fluctiating volume in Skype
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04. When I do test calls in Skype, both the incoming and outgoing volume fluctuates rapidly from nothing to normal volume. There is also some static, sounding like a bad connection, but everything is connected well, and it works fine on my Windows system. Very rarely, the volume is fine for a few seconds. I've adjusted ALSAMIXER, but it didn't seem to help. I believe Skype also uses OSS to adjust the sound. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be, and also what OSS is? Thank you much.
Jim
