It should not be a problem. Standard VGA consoles are kind of default for most systems. What kind of PPC system are you running? An Apple? or IBM?
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

I've read that Apple kinda does it's own thing and doesn't follow standards. I forget where.
I'm using an Apple G5 iMac (the iSight rev. C). I am using the framebuffer provided by the radeon driver with kernel modesetting, which is slow. I don't know if this gets in the way of using VGA also.

you should be able to use xf86-video-radeon with DRI enabled
