    It appears that the USB port on the D-Link 655 was specifically designed for Windows Connect Now and uses SharePort (proprietary software developed by D-Link for Windows) for configuring it.

    I do hate to be the bearer of bad news, but unless someone has some tricks up their sleeves or D-Link develops a Linux port of SharePort, I don't think you'll have any luck with the D-Link 655 and Linux..
