ATI Fan speed for open source driver
When I use the ATI open source driver, everything works fine except for the fans. My gpu fan is running at max speed all the time, and it's very noisy. I don't have this problem with proprietary drivers, however the video performance is not as good. How can i reduce the noise of my gpu fan with the open source driver (without risking to break my hardware...of course)?
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 5870
Distro: ArchLinux (I had the same problem on backtrack)

This problem has been fixed with the new version of the driver.
