Having trouble with the wireless connection on my laptop

I'm running Linux Mint on my laptop and just this morning, my wireless connection somehow turned itself off and I can't get it turned back on. Don't know if it would be related but when I turned it on and right before I noticed the problem, it did a hard drive scan to check for errors. Am pretty sure it's not an update problem because the last time I ran updates, it was about noon yesterday and I've turned it off and on a few times since then without a problem.

Does it still show up in your hardware list (whatever Linux Mint's equivalent to a control panel is)?
    Could you re-install the drivers?

I'm working on my own wireless issue, but these are the first things I've been told to check.
