    I think if it were locked, I would expect the kernel to say something such as 'Write Protect is on'. I have a biometric pen drive at home, and I'm pretty sure it does say it's write protected. I'll have to check on that to be sure.

    It got a little more information from the person who owns it.

    It was only used once and it worked on a Ubuntu netbook some weeks ago, then a couple of days later it just wouldnt read in any computer. So it remains unclear what really happend.

    My guess is that it's bricked. Too bad.. :/
