    What is the use of ACPI with a battery-less system such as a desktop


    I am trying to compile the leanest kernel as possible and i am just curious what use could the ACPI subsystem be on a say a desktop that relies totally AC current instead of a battery reserve.

    ACPI is not just for power management, but configuration and thermal management as well. You DO NOT want to disable it in the kernel! Trust me on that!
    Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
