    CentOS hardware upgrade

    Background:
I currently have a Lenovo Thinkserver rd230 with a single Xeon E5607. I am wanting to upgrade to dual Xeon X5670.

    Question:
Will I have to reinstall my webserver? If not will I need to do anything inside CentOS or will it just work after upgrading the processors?

    Thanks-
    Josh (newb hardware owner!)

    Hi and welcome,

if it is a centos 5 or 6, then there is nothing to do except maybe adjust load warning/critical threshholds of the monitoring/graphing to the different number of cpus.

+1 to Irithori here - I've upgraded hardware under Centos 5 many times, and it just sorts itself out. I've even gone from Intel to AMD hardware. And back again. It's all been fine.
