    Help with PCI-e disk controller

    HI,
I have an old Viglen HX420T2i platform, which consists of four identical blades/nodes each connected to two HDDs. One node has suddenly stopped seeing both its HDDs, and they don't even show up in the BIOS any more, and I suspect the disk controller has died. The node has one PCI-e 2.0 x16 slot free, so can anyone recommend a suitable disk controller card, specifically known to work with Ubuntu 12.04 please? RAID functionality is not necessary.

There are a lot of controller cards out there. I have one for my external raid and jbod enclosures. It has 4 ports, each of which can handle multiple devices. Here is an example: http://www.rakuten.com/prod/startech...240625120.html
