    Dual Monitors

I have been using Windows XP for years but with the help of some great people have been migrating over to Linux, specifically Mint Maya 13 (Mate). I think its a great OS, but am still working out the bugs. I installed a graphics card that can handle dual monitors (Nvidia,GeForce2 MX/AGP/SSE2),and have been using dual monitors using the EVGA UV plus 12 plugged into a usb port for years with no problems. Now when I am in Mint ( I am dual booting until I can work out all the bugs), Mint doesn't see the other monitor at all. I tried installing the recomended Nvidia drivers (The X.Org Foundation) but still no luck seeing the other monitor. I understand that the EVGA UV plus 12 device is not supported in Linux. Is there another workaround? the Graphics card has an "S" video input and a VGA input. Would replacing that card again and finding one with two VGA ports solve it.If so which card would fit my old Dell dimension 8100? Thanks in advance!

Most of the information you posted is irrelevant to your problem and just makes it difficult to determine the root cause of your problem.
You say the card supported dual video output, yet it only (according to your post) has single s-video and vga ports. Do your monitors have DVI ports? If so, get a new (different) nvidia card with dual DVI ports that will go into the 8100's bus. I think I have an old 8100 around here someplace, and as I recall it had a PCI-agp video slot, which is somewhat (very) deprecated. Finding a suitable card for it may be difficult. Have you considered updating your system to a more current model?

Finally, the Linux open source Nouveau nVidia driver has much improved over the past couple of years, but it is still not as good, or capable, as the proprietary nVidia drivers. I would suggest you go to the nVidia driver support web page and get the latest that supports your card. I expect that it is also dated, but it should still work better than the nouveau driver.

Sorry for the extra info. Wasn't sure how much I should include. My main Monitor (Dell) has only a vga port, and my second is actually an led tv with vga, dvi, and s video ports. This is the one that I used the EVGA adapter from vga to usb port and it worked fine in windows. (s video directly didn't seem to work).
I will take your advice and try installing a new card. I found a card made by PNY, it is a GeForce GT630 Grapics card, # VCGGT6302Xpb. I think it will work for my computer. I just have to confirm if the power supply I have will be enough. It needs a minimum of 350 watts. I would use the vga and HDMI ports.
    Thanks for your help Rubberman!

Well, I'd get a DVI to VGA adapter for the one monitor, and use the DVI port on the other. I forget what the Dell 8100 power supply delivers, but they were pretty stout as I recall. Still it would be best to be sure. FWIW, I have a vga monitor (LCD, but only has a vga port) which I use with client systems. If I have to plug it into a DVI port, I just use the adapter. Works fine.
