Fiber connected tape drive - SCSI reservation conflicts

    Hi All,

Im a noob with Linux - currently stufying towards a cert. Unfortuantely our senior guy is away and we have a pressing need to configure a RHEL 5.9 server with a shared MSL6000 HP tape library.

The tape library has been connected and zoned properly but I cannot see the librarys drives (from CommVault backup server). If I look at the messages log (amongst other things) I can see that there are "Kernel: st reservation conflicts."

Can someone point me in the right direction on how to figure out whats going on - how to address the reservation conflict and how to test that its connected and working.

Any help would be mega cool.

    Hi and welcome,

it seems, that more than one program try to open the tapedevice.
You might be able to tell from the processlist or by calling lsof and greppping for /dev/st
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
