    I just remembered. I have a copy of hirens boot cd on my hdd. Maybe it has the tool i need. Or the mini xp tool has the tool i need.

    Sound pretty bad like the early DOS part of the windows boot is partially there, but the windows files can't be located.

    If you're using an older version of windows there are windows rescue disks out on the internet if you search, have to be careful some of the sites with these have Trojan loaded versions. You must know someone you can borrow a window boot CD from for a few hours, if you can this might help you get chkdsk run.

    Ok. I fixed the hard drive with hiren's boot cd. Gparted does not show errors anymore. Turns out this is not why windows is stuck. But that's for another day and a windows forum.
