Hey Alex!
thanks to tutorial (very good), but my modem is not a 'winmodem', is a external hardmodem - USB.
you have one more idea for help me ??

check that the /dev/ttyS# is present, this should correspond to a com3 for windows and thsi is the location of the modem. Then goto the "control centre" of your distro as root and launch ppp to configure the modem scripts. However, if you need drivers, you can get it from the linmodems site.
These days, in order to save a few $, most modems are created as winmodems, including external ones.

What do you do if this /dev/ttyS*... is not installed.
I have /dev/ttys0 - 7 showing com ports 1 - 8 but no usb!
byw I am a complete newbie to Linux so be gentle
