Is my parallel port working ?!?!?!
I have been trying to get my printer to work for the last week or so with no success so far. I have managed to get CUPS installed and running. And i have added both of my printers. But neither works. I get the message:
"Printer not connected; Will retry in 30 seconds"
I only have one parallel port so my printers should be located at /dev/lp1 right ? i have also tried /dev/lp0 and /dev/printer with no succes. I am wondering if maybe my parallel port isn't working. Is there anyway to test it ? Also, does anyone have any other ideas on getting these printers to work ?
The printers i have are a Lexmark 7200 and a Canon BJC-210. I have the drivers for them, and they are installed.

And which Distro are you using?

The printer port should be dev/lp0. Have you started the machine with the printer connected and turned on? Are you using a desktop printer setup or from the command line? And most of all, what are make of the printers
