Problem with DVD Writer in Linux
I'm having a problem getting a DVD writer working in Linux. Here is my dvdrecord output:
I've had this DVD Writer in my Windows box for about a year and it's always worked fine. Now I've transfered it to my Debian server to use as a backup system. I had a plain old cd writer in there before and that worked fine, I just need more capacity. Anyway, I'm using the same media I used under windows with this drive (I've tried DVD-RW and DVD+RW) and it don't work. I was running Kernel 2.4.18 when I first tried this, and I've since upgraded to 2.6.7 (from backports.org) with no change. The output posted above is from dvdrecord using DVD-RW media. The errors I get when using DVD+RW media are different. Let me know if you need to see those as well.Code:root@bubbles:/temp# dvdrecord dev=1,0,0 speed=2 -dao dvdtest.iso dvdrtools v0.2.1 Portions (C) 2002-2005 Ark Linux <bero@arklinux.org> This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation; either version 2, or (at your option) any later version.
