Can anybody give me the command which tells the network adaptor details what are the nic cards, and information like adaptor typr, mac address, manufacturer.

Update for you. Actually I'm not sure if you'll find the nic with modprobe. There is a device list somewhere that lists dozens of devices but I don't have it handy.
You can also get some of the info you asked about with the command hwinfo
I don't know what linux distro you are using but SUSE has an excellent tool in the YAST package that gives the best hardware info I've ever seen.
