Dead Mentor USB modem
I'm having some trouble with my new Mentor USB modem.
After plugging it in, I read in Micro Mart that I should find the chipset, so I can search for a suitable driver using google.
So after doing a cat /proc/bus/usb/devices command (I think that was what it was) I found a list of USB devices, none of which were listed as a modem. There were three usb hubs (?). A USB 2.0 SIS hub, and two other 1.0 hubs.
I know the USB ports work, because it accesses my digital camera fine. I have tried searching for the device on my Fedora and Debian partitions, and even slipped MandrakeMove into my drive to see if that saw it, but to no avail. I run an ECS ECSOM+ motherboard with a 1200 duron and 256mb of PC2100. All of the USB functions come from the motherboard, no expansion boards needed.
When I get home tonight, I'll copy the text of the command and post it here. I just wondered if anyone else knew of a problem, or had trouble themselves.
Anyhow, thanks for looking
