No sound from SB Audigy sound card
I've compiled and installed the Alsa driver for my sound
card but there's still no sound. Linux detects my card and
the following is shown in X Windows:
Audio Devices
Vendor: Creative Labs
Model: SB Audigy LS
Module: snd-ca0106
ALSA states that all audio is muted by default and I have
to turn it back on with a mixer program, when I ran my
mixer program, I got the following:
Volume control is unable to run correctly.
Unable to open audio device '/dev/mixer'.
I run everything as root, so I'm sure I have the rights to
it.
Also, I tried the mixer provided by ALSA and this is what
I got after running "alsamixer":
alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such file or directory
What do all these mean? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
