SUSE 9.2 has the driver installed for this printer. Slackware does not. Some distros will have it and some will not.

No driver listed for it at www.LinuxPrinting.org but shows "works partially".

I have an Epson Stylus C82. It turned out to be a very expensive printer. It cleans its printheads frequentily and automatically consuming ink from each of its four $30 cartridges each time. I hope to replace it with a laser sometime soon.
It worked fine with Suse 8.2 and partially with RH Core 3. It worked partially with Debian Sarge using Gimp drivers.
It worked fine with the custom drivers included with Libranet 2.8.1 and 3.0. (libranet.com) 2.8.1 is a free download - 3.0 costs $90. Libranet is a customized version of Debian.

I ended up getting an HP PSC 1610 All in One printer/scanner,copier. It was a much better deal for me. It was harder to set-up than i thougt, but i got it working.
Yeah those $30 dollar cartridges scared me away. I couldnt believe how expensive they were. The hp i got has only 2 cartridges, one is $12 and one is $18. The scanner and copier were just a bonus.Registered Linux user #388374

Glad to hear you are up and running, tp671. :
I had that same printer and replaced it with a Brother 5150D Laser printer and it works flawless in Linux. I'm done with inkjet printers - too messy, too expensive to maintain, and the print quality never looks quite right to me. My next stop will be a color laser once prices drop a little more.

As already told by others, http://linuxprinting.org is an excellent resource for getting info about supported printers in Linux.
My old Brother HL-720 Windows laser printer works perfect using the Foomatic driver
I think HP is the best supported inkjet printer at the moment.
I\'m so tired .....
