    Mach 64

    Hi,
Just installed Yellow Dog Linux 3.0, which is brilliant, but I cant get it to run in 1024x768 mode. I have a Mach 64 video Card running on a G3 PowerPC (i its a mac -booo, buts got linux on - horaay).
It runs in 800x600 fine, and I have tried changing the "xf86config" file so it does run in 1024 mode, but it fails to do so, it keeps reverting back to 800 mode (after complaining).

    Does anyone have any ideas?

Will be greatful for any healp.

    Many thanks

I don't have your answer, but thought I'd let you know your most likely the only user on Yellowdog and using a G3. If you don't get any responses it because we don't know, not because your being ignored.

Linux is still Linux tho. just different hardware.

Have you tried lookin in the XF86Config file? Make sure the refresh rates for your monitor are set to what the monitor can handle? Also. check to make sure that your video card is proerly setup and the video modes are properly defined in that file?

I slightly disagree with you on that. Yes on the kernel level it maybe or not. But thats like saying RH is the same as Gentoo or Debian for install, hardware support, utilities included and app's that come with it as well as admin tools. There not they same. Similar yes, the same no. The no part is why someone that is very good on RH can drown on another distro. There are distro specific utilities and differences that are not simple.

So what exactly is wrong with a mac?
