Are you sure the plug from your case's power button to your motherboard isn't plugged in backwards (meaning the + and - leads are reversed)? I almost always plug in the LEDs backwards on new boards. You might try turning the little black power switch plug around.

Thanks guys, took it to work and tested the power supply. I had to replace it. I'm installing WinXP/Debian 64 today
