Hi all,

I just bought a SATA-MV8 SATA card from SuperMicro. It has a Marvel MV88SX5081 chipset.

I guess I'm what you call a "newbie" so here it goes. I had the problems with trying to get the driver working for this card so I followed some intructions on another forum and POW, I could now see my 7 SATA drives.
I am running FC3, 2.6.11-1.27_FC3.

MY problem is now that I am getting a crap load of I/O errors when trying to access the drives. The driver is not from libata, it is mv_sata.

When I do a cat /proc/scsi/scsi I see the following:

Attached devices:
Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
Vendor: Maxtor Model: 6B300S0 Rev: BANC
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 03

These show up as /dev/sda ... /dev/sdg in the /dev
directory. However, when I try and access them with fdisk (fdisk /dev/sda) I get an error saying:

"Unable to open /dev/sda"

When I check the logs I see the following (oh yeah, I stuck the full debug version in when I had problems):

The only thing I can think of that may be an issue is the fact that these drives are in HOT SWap bays, would that make a difference? Actually it doesn't seem to, I took one out and plugged it directly into a drive and I get the same issue.

Anyway, any help would be appreciated...
