    detecting that hardware is there (stupid title)

    hello all,

    a really stupid question, but i want to get rid of windows!

    i use winxp or win98 as a temporary OS on any machine to detect that my hardware in that system is being recognised by using the device manager in windows.

    how do i do that in linux? I REALLY want to gt rid of windows!!!

    You could start by dumping the contents of the /etc/sysconfig/hwconfig file.

    It's not ideal but its a start.
