Sound Card problems with Linux
I installed SUSE 9.1 on my system the other day and since then, it won't acknowledge my sound card. It's a Creative Labs SB Live! card that came with my Dell computer. Audio works just fine when I'm using Windows but when I switch over to Linux, it just doesn't see the sound card and gives me no audio. Any recommendations on how to fix this?
I'm Linux illiterate by the way. So please, speak in English.

No worries there, English-only is in the rules.

That links me to a lot of good info man. Thanks for sending it my way. When I get the chance, I'll read up on it some and see what I can get accomplished. Thanks again.

Try recompiling your kernel and setting the ALSA driver as a module, or try and play around with different parts of your multimedia area in the kernel as well. Good luck to you.

Is "recompiling the kernel" the same as reinstalling? Walk me through how to do that if you dont mind.
