i am going to post this til someone helps me!!! :) (pci not detected)

    basic problem ...

i am running simplyMEPIS ... i updated a lot of packages one night without paying a lot of attention ... something got borked... hotplug now tells me that pci is not enabled... meauto tells me that my '/usr/share/hwdata/pcitables' is missing... and i have no ethernet or sound on that box anymore ...

anyone have any ideas ... hotplug start doesnt help ... just keeps telling me that pci is [disabled] (as it net and input ... tho mouse an kboard are working fine).

in one hardware montior (kde info center i think) it lists all of the devices as being there and its interrupt ....

techiemoe recommended kudzu ... but that doesnt start with the system ... and thus far i have not been able to get it to work anyway.....

any help would be greatly appreciated (i.e. i dun wanna reinstall on this box)

Do not cross post. If no one answers your first one, bump it after a few days.
