too many IDE interfaces, no room in table
Hi,
I've got a Promise Ultra 100 IDE controller in a pci slot on my machine. When the machine starts up I get this message:
... ...
PDC20268: IDE controller at PCI slot 03:05.0
PDC20268: chipset revision 2
PDC20268: not 100% native mode: will probe irqs later
PDC20268: too many IDE interfaces, no room in table
PDC20268: too many IDE interfaces, no room in table
... ...
Anybody got any ideas what this is about or how to fix it?
Is there a limit on the number of IDE interfaces a linux kernel can handle?

well it's a hardware problem and a kernel problem judging from the error message so I wasn't sure where would be the best place to post it.
sorry!

You need to go to the promise web site and down load thier Linux drivers or if you have the floppy, sometimes they are on it.
Research, research, research before you walk the plank.

tried, they didn't have any drivers to download for it on linux, only windows and a couple others (maybe novell), but no linux - I looked under Redhat and Suse!
I don't know if we even have a floppy, but if the website doesn't have it, the floppy may not either.

Funny, my ultra 100 pci promise IDE card has the Linux drivers on the same floppy with the Winblows ones, more funny when I installed the ultra 100X2 pci promise IDE card with the downloaded drivers, holy crap what a dream.
Research, research, research before you walk the plank.
