Looking for a linux compatible mouse
I just installed fedora core 5 and have been having problems with my mice. I didn't really expect them to work because they were designed for windows platforms so I decided that I'm just going to buy a new mouse. I could really use some recomendations because I want to make sure that it willl work with linux. I also don't want to spend more than $50. What mice do you guys use?
Thanks for helping me out.

Speed Link fast optical mouse SL-6175. Very cheap (some 10 bucks) and works great.
Windows free since 2002 | computing since 1984
- 04-30-2006 #4What specific problems are you having? I've never found a mouse that didn't work with Linux. Perhaps we could save you the money by just getting your current one configured correctly?

My Microsoft Wheel Mouse, Logitech USB wireless mouse, and Synaptics touchpad all work without issue. In fact, I've never had a mouse that didn't work.
Maybe your mouse just didn't get detected and set up right?Stand up and be counted as a Linux user!

After boot it works fine for about 3 minutes, but then the cursor gets stuck on the left side of my screen. I can move it vertically just fine, but when I try to move it horizontally I run into problems. If I try to move the curson to the right side of my screen too fast then it just jumps back to the left side. However, I can move it to the right side of my screen if I move the mouse very slowly.

All of them worked fine on my xp computer.
My /etc/X11/xorg.conf file:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "yes"
EndSection
I tried changing "IMPS/2" to "PS/2" and then restarting the X server but it didn't fix the problem.
- 05-01-2006 #7Have you tried changing your "Device" line to "/dev/psaux" instead of "/dev/input/mice"?

I have the exact same issue as ztrace, I have tried using both a Logitech MX700 and a micrsoft optical mouse. Depending upon what I do the mouse will get stuck on the left most edge of the screen.
My setup is as follows:
DualHead using Xinerama (xfce) Xorg 7.1.1 (recently upgraded from 7.0 issue stays the same) I follow the gentoo advanced mouse howto Wiki to setup my mice and they should be configured properly.
I haven't the slightest idea as to what to do know. I have tested this with many different WDM's and It pops up regardless, I have messed with my xorg.conf like crazy, updated Gentoo... etcCode:Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Mouse0" Driver "mouse" Option "CorePointer" Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2" Option "Device" "/dev/psaux" Option "Buttons" "6" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" Option "ButtonMapping" "1 2 3 8 9 4 5 6 7 10 11" EndSection
I don't get any error messages from xorg either.
any help would be greatly appreciated

mouse problem
Hi,
I have my brand-new laptop and a Logitech mouse.
I'm having exactly the same problem as you guys. Both mouse and trackpad give me the same problem: cursor escapes into lower left corner - so it's not a device- specific problem.
Playing with different options in XF86config file didn't help. Rather, now there's no mouse response AT ALL!
No drivers for Linux on Logitech website provided...
Any help appreciated
Greg
