Good scanner for FC?
Hi, I've searched the forums but couldn't find tips about which is a good scanner for Linux. I have an old scanner, AGFA snapscan1212, (parallel port) which apparently is not supported by SANE and therefore I need to upgrade. More specifically, I'm running FC4; anybody have recommendations about a scanner you're happy with? Thanks.

This is not a solution to everyone's taste, but the proprietary program Vuescan (http://www.hamrick.com/) works with a very large number of scanners and is available for Linux. It has allowed me to use a Canon film scanner on both Mac OS X and Linux, even though Canon supplies drivers for neither OS. You can look on their Web site and see if your scanner is supported.
