    Question New dual cores

For everybody looking to upgrade in the near future (me included), it would be great if those pioneers running either conroe or any of the amd dual cores (with socket am2) could share their linux experiences with these platforms. What is your processor/mobo/memory-configuration, what's good, what's not so good, etc?

I've run the Ubuntu Dapper (6.06) LiveCD on my MacBook Pro, which uses an Intel Core Duo 2.0gHz (Yonah) processor. It seems to run just fine.

For older kernels you need to run the SMP kernel to take advantage of the dual core CPU. As of 2.6.17 all kernels are multi processor aware and this is not necessary. You'll notice any HT processors have also been using the SMP kernels since they appeared...
