I'm new at Linux tech. I've had a memorex 16X burner and it worked well. After a year it would burn CDs but no longer DVDs.

I just purchased a new memorex 16X burner. It plays DVDs but I can't get it to burn one. "Error" and "No video transcoding" are the messages I get once the DVD runs it course.

Also, when I start, I click on the DVD icon on the desk top and try to open it with K3b, it says "can't open".

I've tried a few DVDs but get the same messages.
