    Seems like XP is touching your Linux partition when it boots.

    Hi !!

    where is your windows OS ? in SATA (sdc) disk or ATA (hdc)...

    fdisk shows three harddisks.
    two SATA... sdb -- Linux, sda -- NTFS and one ATA...hdc -- FAT32...

    only FAT32 disk (sdc) is mounted... there is no entry for NTFS disk in fstab.
    if windows OS is in NTFS (sda ) then create mount point for it.

    $ mkdir /media/win_ntfs

    add this line in fstab file....

    /dev/sda1 /media/win_ntfs ntfs defaults,ro,umask=0 0 0

    save and reboot......

    only FAT32 disk (sdc) is mounted... there is no entry for NTFS disk in fstab.
    if windows OS is in NTFS (sda ) then create mount point for it.

    $ mkdir /media/win_ntfs

    add this line in fstab file....

    /dev/sda1 /media/win_ntfs ntfs defaults,ro,umask=0 0 0

    save and reboot......

    Win XP is on the sata drive sda1 ... I never thought of adding it to the fstab I didn't know that I even need to mount that drive .. Will try it and get back ..
