My DVD RW won't read discs anymore
Hi,
I'm not a linux user, but didn't know where else to get advice from clever technical people, given Microsoft's "Help & Support" function is useless. My DVD drive has not been reading/recognising discs for a while now and I'm wondering if it could be since I got my new EIZO TFT monitor. Earlier, however, it started to play up - reading some discs and not others, then all CDs but not DVDs and now won't read anything. Software tests claim it's in working order, and the drive lights up when a disc is inserted but unfortunately any disc is interpretted as blank. Any ideas?
Thanks, Meghan.

Perhaps you want to try a Linux Live CD (a Linux that you can try just like that, without installing it on your computer) to make sure your problem is not hardware related.
Try Ubuntu 6.06.1 (Desktop CD) : click here to download
Then follow those instructions to burn the Ubuntu CD :
