Minimum hardware requiments ever
What's the slowest system that any Linux kernel was able to load? I was trying to search the net, but didn't find any information about it... Oh, I mean smth PC-like, not "Linux in watch" or smth like that
I just had a discussion with my friend who insisted that we'd be able to install a DOS on a antique PC he founded, but not Linux, & I wanted to take this oportunity to try Linux From Scratch without risking to kill my computer, so we came to this question - what's the slowest Linux PC? 086?

In theory Linux will install on anything (including the wrist watch scenario you mentioned). I just know from my own personal experience that I was able to install Fedora Core on a Pentium 90mHz. I imagine any X86 processor will run it, albeit in a stripped-down form. I'd be interested to try it on an older processor, such as an SX/33mHz or a DX2/66mHz. What kind of hardware does your "antique" PC have?

I left it at my friend's place, & I didn't recognize it (and we didn't boot it cos power adapter went down). But it had only 5'.. floppy drive (not even 3,5'!) and only ISA (I hope that I remember the name right, anyway I mean the thing before PCI) card slots.
