    Acer AL1916W monitor problem

I've been trying to get a new Acer AL1916W monitor to work in 1440x900 or 1280x800 widescreen resolution mode. I'm using fc2 with the 2.6.10 kernel and an intel 845 chipset with the i810 driver. The problem is the monitor output is allways in "stretched" mode (1280x1024) no matter how many config fixes I try. I've edited my /etc/X11/xorg.conf file to correct the DisplaySize, HorizSync, and VertRefresh as well as adding the "1440x900" and "1280x800" modes. I even calculated my own Modeline using the pixel clock info from the user manual. Nothing in xorg.conf seems to change the monitor output. I've also downloaded, installed, and ran the 855resolution program with no success. I've used the program to patch '5a' with 1440 900 and 1280 800. FC2 seems to not want to accept any wide screen mode. I've even tried adding "video=1440x900" to my kernel boot line in grub. Am I missing some config file somewhere? Any suggestions?

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can find help for this problem? Maybe other forums?
