Hp Pavilion Mx704 Screen Resolution Problem
Does anyone have an HP Pavilion mx704 monitor (15") without screen resolution problems? I am stuck in 640x480 @ 85 Hz and there are no other options in my screen resolution menu. I have posted at length about this problem in another thread: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthre...ght=nolagirl05
I have tried so many different things. I am hoping that someone has the same monitor and can share their xorg.conf file or any other information that might help me correct the problem. According to the manual, the ideal is 1024x768 @ 85 Hz.
I just upgraded to Edgy from Dapper and it didn't help. Does anyone think it would be a good idea to reinstall Edgy to try and overwrite everything?
Here is my current xorg.conf:

Type this in the Console:
Select your graphics chipset (use vesa if it doesn't appear on the list) and then select 1280 x 1024 in the next screen (use the space to select). Then restart X (reboot). it should detect your screen resolution and refresh rate and set it to max.Code:sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
BTW it is a bad link.

Yeah, I've already tried that several times to no avail.

Did you try using vesa? Also, is your graphics driver installed? What graphics do you have?
