Does anyone know a linux distro capable of using the 8800GTS from the drivers on the installation CD? I have tried ubuntu but the card is not supported ...

Hi there,
Does anyone know a linux distro capable of using the 8800GTS from the drivers on the installation CD? I have tried ubuntu but the card is not supported with the installtation CD. thanks

There are two things working against any distro having good drivers for the 8800GTS on the CD:
1. Nvidia's binary drivers generally aren't distributed with Linux distros. You can use the open-source 'nv' driver, but you won't get 3D support or many other features.
2. Nvidia didn't even have binary drivers for the 8800GTS until this week, so it's way too soon to expect distro maintainers to throw together a new distro release just to include those video drivers.
That said, you can install any distro and then download drivers from Nvidia's Web site and install them manually. In that respect it's no different than other popular operating systems, which generally don't come with any decent video drivers at all.Stand up and be counted as a Linux user!
