    ide controler won't work


    i have a creative labs ide controler thats built in to a SB16, but as soon as i connect any ide device into it the bootup gives errors (hdg: irq request timeout )
    any help, i know this interface works as it is fine in windows 98.

    You wanna use an old cdrom drive ?
    Still have sb16 ASP lying around somewhere....
    Something i remember is that:
    U need to assign an IRQ to the card in you bios..

    actualy, its not connected to a cdrom, it is a host to my 800mb 3.5" removable hdd.
    I know that it should work with linux cos it was fine with redhat 5.1 on my old computer
