    USB in Linux

I have installed Fedora Core 1 some days 2 or 3 weeks ago, and I would like to know how can I use USB with it, because not my USB printer neider my pen usb work with it.
When I put the pen disk in the USB while the computer is running it doesn't do anyting, but when I put it when opening the computer, it says that the mouse has been unpluged, and the mouse, and the keybord stop working.

    Can you help?

    kernel modules?

Which modules do you have installed for usb?

    on my box I needed
    usbcore
    usb-uhci
    hid
    mousedev
    input

do "lsmod" and check it out.
(of course, there is always the possibility that you have them compiled in your kernel)

snooping around in the /dev directory tree is also a nice idea,
to find out if your perhiprals get detected

ok sorry for all teh post but i realized i should check something and i did....nothing shows up in /var/log/messages when i plug the printer in or unplug it or anythign so i am starting to think that this is less of a printer problem and more of a system USB problem. I just dont know of any way to check to see what si causeing this thanks for any help

nah are you on the 2.6 kernel?
if so there are 3 possible input drivers /modules for the different chipsets
    ehci_hcd 0000:00:02.2: USB 2.0 enabled, EHCI 1.00, driver 2004-May-10
that is one of the possibilities.
however if you are on the 2.4 kernel then i am at a loss as to what is going on....
