I am fairly new to linux and have just recently installed ubuntu edgy eft distro as my main OS on one of my PCs (for a multitude of reasons I wont go into here).

The intergrated sound card on my motherboard has a broken output plug that cannot be used. In windows I simply bypassed this problem by assigning my line-in jack to be speaker output, however I have no idea how to do this under linux and was wondering if someone could help me.
