do you have Windows Installed in your machine. ASUS Motherboards CDs has BIOS updater utility. it checks latest available version from ASUS site and installs it automatically. problem is, its Windows based only.
BIOS upgrade is irreversible process and wrong version could damage your MOBO. if you are updating manually, be very careful.
CasperIt is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Hi devils_casper,
Tks for your advice.
Unfortunately No.do you have Windows Installed in your machine. ASUS Motherboards CDs has BIOS updater utility. it checks latest available version from ASUS site and installs it automatically. problem is, its Windows based only.
Yes, that is true.BIOS upgrade is irreversible process and wrong version could damage your MOBO.
I updated ASUS Mobo BIOS previously. It was very simple not necessary to run any OS. Have the update package on floppy and booted the PC the BIOS will be updated automatically. Unfortunately I can't recal the procedure.

i think you have to boot up from ASUS MOBO CD. ubzip BIOS file (.rom) and execute updater.exe to upgrade BIOS. check Manual in ASUS CD for details.

Hi Casper,
I went through 2 methods previously. According to my recollection;
Method 1)
On ASUS A8NVM motherboard
- download the lastest BIOS file and decompress it as aaa.rom.
- rename aaa.rom as A8NVM.ROM and save it on a floppy
- reboot PC and press <Alt>+F2 at starting to display following;- insert the floppy prepared as above.Code:EZFlash starting BIOS update Checking for floppy .....
When the correct BIOS file found EZ Flash will perform BIOS update automatically and reboot PC at finish.
Method 2)
- download the lastest BIOS file and decompress it on floppy (I can't recall its name and ext.)
- booting the PC to BIOS setup page and inserting the floppy.
- On the BIOS setup page, selected an item there (I can't recall whether it's "ASUS EZ Flash 2". Hit it then it'll automatically update.
I download the BIOS file 0802.zip on the website. After decompressing I found its name as "0802.bin"

Remark; The complete steps as follows;Code:First I checked the CD coming with the mobo confirming the old BIOS file being. I checked the manual. Unfortnately I can't find the instruction there. Then I checkdd ASUS support site. Also I failed to locate the instruction manual.

- copied the file on floppy and unzip it as 0802.bin
- rebooted PC and entered BIOS setup
- inserted the floppy on drive
- on Tools page selected "ASUS EZ Flash 2" and hit [Enter]
- BIOS update page started. Selected drive A and accepted update new BIOS 0802. Hit [Enter]. It updated the BIOS automatically. After finish it rebooted the PC.
# dmidecode -s bios-versionIt showed the new BIOS is running.Code:ASUS M2N-E ACPI BIOS Revision 0802
