Unopenable CD Drive
Here's the lowdown: I'm trying to install MEPIS 6 on an old box I had lying around somewhere(128MB RAM, 333MHz Processor, 7GB HDD, Windows 9. I've got the LiveCDs from the Linux Format Mepis special edition(LXFS0
. However, the CD drive will not open. I know it's plugged in, because the computer detects it and I know it has power because the indicator light turns on. But whenever I push the eject button, it makes this *tck* *tck* *tck* noise. The drive is a Diamond Data 40X as described here.
Even when I stick a paperclip in the emergency eject hole, it doesn't come out. Does anyone know what's happening?
Cheers,
LCohen

Perhaps it is broken and something is catching it so it can't eject..... You could try to disassemble it

I don't want to disassemble it. I would rather keep all of my computer parts in working order
